Libertopia is…
A virtual community where you rule… yourself.
A voluntary community based on freedom & peace where each individual’s sovereignty and dignity are respected and all forms of aggression, coercion and violence are unacceptable.
A full-service resource, filled with articles, multimedia, and other information of interest to our voluntary community. We encourage interaction with our blog.
An annual festival: a three day (and eventually a week long) celebration where we share ideas, explore, experiment, discover, innovate, trade, gift, create or perform art, spread the love and rejoice in our diversity and unique individuality.

Libertopia announces the Rock Band, Mr. Hunter
Mr. Hunter is a rock band originally created in the New York area by Chris Marcus. The band’s first CD “The First Chapter,” which was released this past winter, is about freedom, following your own vision, and pursuing your dreams. At the same time, the band has been following current events and felt a need to write about what is happening in the world around us. This inspiration created “The Course of Empire,” a theme album based on the artwork of Thomas Cole that puts music to the stages of empire that we are witnessing while telling the story in a musical form of Ayn Randian philosophy. The band is excited to perform the symphony in its entirety at this year’s Libertopia! To learn more about Mr. Hunter and The Course of Empire, visit their website.
We have added several articles to our Articles page. The most recent one, John Rafanello’s new article, “The True Source of Our Liberty,” is about more than liberty. He shows how our definitions of words, our thinking about concepts, and our willingness to be happy all affect the liberty we have in our lives.
We have uploaded another great Libertopia 2011 speech to You Tube. Watch Debbie Harbeson speak from her experience as an unschooling mom in “The Five Principles of Unschooling.” You can also read articles by Debbie on unschooling on our Peaceful Parenting page.
Butler Shaffer’s article, “The Remnant Meets the White Rose,” which originated on LewRockwell.com, is posted to the Anything Peaceful and Voluntary page.
Professor Shaffer explains why the social questioning of the 1960′s represented by so many liberation movements, like the anti-war, feminist, and libertarian movements, was soon buried by collectivist thinking and why today’s younger generation may be able to overcome that tendency as a modern Remnant, inspired by the spirit of the White Rose. He compares and contrasts the social forces at work then and now.
Our Video page has added the animated video, “Edgar the Exploiter,” the new crowd-financed video from Tomasz Kaye, the producer of “George Ought to Help,” which was screened at Libertopia 2011.
“Edgar the Exploiter” illustrates how government interference in the economy has unintended consequences that are the very opposite of the stated justification for the use of violence against peaceful people. In particular, it shows how minimum wage laws harm the people they are supposedly intended to help.
The libertopia.org website relaunches with an expanded mission of providing a one-stop portal for all the information any voluntaryist might want.
